Cologne – the ideal MICE-destination for your next event!

Located in the centre of Europe, Cologne is Germany’s fourth-largest city and the largest city in Germany’s most populous federal state North Rhine-Westphalia with excellent conditions for organizers and visitors alike: easy accessibility with three international airports less than one hour away (Cologne, Düsseldorf and Frankfurt), more than 1.300 daily train connections and a broad and varied range of meeting venues. In 2024, 7.15 million participants came to more than 42,300 events in Cologne.

The exhibition centre Koelnmesse, the third-largest in Germany and one of the Top Ten in the world, is explicitly striving to create the world’s most attractive inner-city exhibition centre becoming fully climate-neutral by 2030: in August 2021 finished new Hall 1 offers 10,000 m² for flexible formats and the Confex® hall, a mix of conference and exhibition centre for up to 6,200 persons which opened in July 2024, are part of the Koelnmesse 3.0 project.

Cologne has strong economic sectors and is home to scientific research institutes and universities. With some 100,000 students and over 3,000 scientists, Cologne and the surrounding areas count as one of Europe's largest and most innovative science centres with a huge potential for knowledge transfer which is also reflected in various social programmes.

In addition, its cultural heritage, outstanding recreational opportunities, and the open minded, welcoming mind-set of its inhabitants imbue Cologne with a powerful magnetism. To highlight the old town, Cologne Cathedral (a world heritage site and the most frequently visited landmark in Germany), the abundance of Romanesque churches as well as a wide range of museums and exhibitions, Cologne offers a rich and broad spectrum of cultural attractions.

The Cologne Convention Bureau (CCB) is Cologne's centre of excellence for all aspects relating to conferences and events. Integrated within the Cologne Tourist Board the CCB team offers event organizers an initial independent point of contact for all questions regarding Cologne as a MICE-destination.
