A state governed organisation established under the Tourism Act No. 38 of 2005, the Bureau is currently managed by the Ministry of Foreign Afairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism. With achieving sustainable economic development as its goal, it is the responsibility of the SLCB to reduce the seasonal fluctuations in the tourism sector of Sri Lanka through programs that promote the country to different segments of travellers across the world.
MICE is recognised as a sought-after area of the tourist sector and it is made up of four pillars: Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions/Events. It is an extremely important sector in Sri Lankan tourism that offers a myriad of benefits to the economy and tourism industry in the country.
SLCB is working towards positioning Sri Lanka as one of the prime MICE destinations in the world to contribute positively to the country’s economy through job creation and raising the living standards of people engaged directly and indirectly with the MICE sector.
Our Services
SLCB is the go-to organization for meeting planners, incentive houses, corporations, and associations interested in arranging and executing events in Sri Lanka. From handling inquiries to providing support for events, SLCB offers a comprehensive range of services. Here are some of the things we do:
· Act as the primary point of contact for event planning in Sri Lanka
· Collaborate closely with industry leaders and national airlines
· Offer marketing initiatives to promote Sri Lanka as a preferred destination for MICE events
· Provide support in the bidding, planning, organizing, and implementing of events
· Offer event support through the SLCB MICE Traveler Assistance Scheme
· Assist in selecting a Professional Conference Organizer (PCO)
· Facilitate the necessary government clearances
· Coordinate with airlines and airport authorities
· Offer promotional support to boost event participation
