Condé Nast’s best at IMEX
Where new corners of the world are revealed
Part one
Condé Nast’s best places to go in 2025 have top-end incentive trip written all over them. Especially IMEX HQ’s home county of Sussex, England (not that we’re biased of course…). We’re delighted to see that many of them are joining us at IMEX 2025.
Chosen for their alignment with Condé Nast’s values of “innovation in conservation, astounding creativity or a profound sense of human connection”, they are destinations being “reshaped by new openings, stand-out restaurants, culture-defining museums and boutique hotels”. We’d add the opportunity to experience nature in all its glory to that list.
First up is the Ahr Valley in Germany, a region being reshaped by resilience, ingenuity and innovation following the 2021 floods under a “we AHR open” banner. Come for the 22-mile-long red-wine hiking trail, Pinot Noir and Michelin-starred food, and stay during late summer/early fall for harvest-time wine festivals.
Cuba’s new e-visas (launched August last year) are opening up access to its Afro-Cuban culture, UNESCO World Heritage Sites, ice-cream-colored classic cars and packed festival calendar celebrating cinema, jazz, salsa, ballet and more. Stay in boutique hotels in historic buildings, at beachside resorts and eat in authentic Cuban paladares.
Argentina’s El Impenetrable National Park sounds inaccessible and remote—and it is. But new river safaris are allowing visitors a glimpse of this otherworldly environment, home to jaguars, giant anteaters and black caiman, in return for contributing to its preservation.
The far-flung Faroe Islands offer windswept cliff-top hikes, rugged sea-and-landscapes, and now a six-and-a-half-mile subsea tunnel, the Sandoyartunnilin, decorated with Viking-inspired art and its own soundtrack. Plus, new direct flights, outdoor spas and beachside saunas.
Two cities also made the list: Marseille in France and Muscat in Oman. With investments made for both the Olympics and Marseille’s earlier stint as City of Culture, Marseille offers laidback vibes and outdoor city life at beach clubs and festivals, fabulous French/North African food and a stunning calanque-dotted turquoise coast. Nestled in the Hajar Mountains, Muscat offers both beachside pampering and a step back in time along its historic corniche and into its 200-year-old covered souq. The city is also the gateway to both Oman’s wild south coast and to the fjords of Musandam.
