Where new corners of the world are revealed
Part two
Tanzania’s Ngorongoro Crater and archipelago of Zanzibar make the list for new lodges and hotels set in one of the world’s largest volcanic craters, and new beachside banda resorts for perfect post-safari sojourns. Another extraordinary wildlife destination to make the list is the Peruvian Amazon, for adventure with all the creature comforts, for riverboat views of caimans, sloths and anacondas, and for luxury treehouses and wellness treatments inspired by Amazonian healing products.
Australia makes the list three times, first for Queensland’s tropical coast, “where ancient rainforests fringe aquamarine seas”, and where new resorts, trails and five-star escapes plus a thriving arts scene and better connectivity add to the appeal.
Australia’s Top End World Heritage National Parks, subtropical wetlands and red-rock deserts are selected for their new immersive experiences in an area with deeply rooted First Nations culture. Plus, Australia and New Zealand’s Southern Ocean Subantartic Islands which can now be reached by luxe expedition ships for the chance to see albatrosses, penguins, seals, seabirds, breaching whales—and the awe-inspiring aurora australis.
Florida’s Space Coast is chosen for its unique combination of rocket launches, sparkling displays of bioluminescence and sea-turtle-spotting night strolls. The coast is both the launch site for the Artemis II mission to the moon (plus twice weekly rocket launches from the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral), and the home to dazzling displays of bioluminescence in Indian River Lagoon and a newly thriving sea turtle population.
IMEX HQs home of Sussex, England gets a mention for its “cozy new openings and buzzy creative scene”, from sleepy Sussex villages to art-filled country towns, to “seaside star”, Brighton. Plus, vineyards, gardens and the newly opened King Charles III England Coast Path. (We think it’s brilliant by the way!)
