Copenhagen expands its hotel scene yet again

From luxury 5-star lodging to charming boutique stays and affordable designer hotels, the destination’s accommodation scene continues to have something to offer for everyone.

In the past 10 years, hotel capacity in Copenhagen has expanded by more than 80%. The city now offers more than 28,500 rooms distributed on a wide selection of accommodation possibilities.

With thriving independent hotels and family-owned Danish chains, as well as international hotel chains, such as CitizenM, Dolce by Wyndham, Marriott (including Fairfield, Sheraton, and Residence Inn), Moxy, Radisson, and Starwood, operating on the local hotel scene, the greater Copenhagen area thus caters for overnight stays in all categories to meet every demand, budget, and taste.

Here, Wi-Fi is complimentary, and no city or hotel tax will be added to the bill. To top it off, in a city famed for its green goals, almost 70% of the city’s hotel rooms are eco-certified, with more expected to follow suit. For a selection of hotels hitting the local scene in 2025, see below.  

Hotel developments in Copenhagen

Hotel Hans: Located in the middle of the vibrant Nørrebro and elegant Frederiksberg, this brand new luxury boutique hotel by Brøchner Hotels offers a perfect location in central Copenhagen. Hotel Hans is exclusively designed with several social spaces and a speakeasy bar with free Wi-Fi throughout the property and offers both complimentary Wine Hour and Nightcap Hour for all staying guests. The hotel features a lush urban terrace with lounge and a fitness room available 24/7. A large restaurant serves both organic breakfast and dinner for guests. It offers 91 luxury rooms in unique design and exclusive suites with a private 25 m2 rooftop terrace offering seating area and a 360-degree view of Copenhagen. Bike rentals are available on the property too. Opens in July 2025.

Ottilia Heritage: Brøchner Hotels is also introducing Ottilia Heritage, a remarkable new chapter in luxury hospitality nestled in Copenhagen's historic Carlsberg City District. Ottilia Heritage is an extension to the award-winning Hotel Ottilia next door. Set in a meticulously restored 1881 landmark - the very building that once stored malted barley for the world-famous Carlsberg beer - Ottilia Heritage pays tribute to its rich past while redefining luxury hospitality which unfolds across 14 grand suites, ranging from 25-65 m2, and each designed as an individual masterpiece of industrial elegance, contemporary minimalism, and bespoke craftsmanship. 1 Hotel Copenhagen: Nestled in the historic heart of the city, nature-first design and eco-conscious architecture meet exceptional accommodations at this new luxury hotel. Its 282 rooms blend cozy comfort and nature-inspired design, and some have a balcony or terrace. Great meetings facilities are also at hand, of course, as is a new restaurant called Fjora - a quiet tribute to the Nordic wild – and a bar dubbed Pære (pear) where locals meet the world, and the world meets the locals. Opens late July 2025.

Hotel developments beyond Copenhagen

Park Lane Copenhagen, Hellerup: Park Lane Copenhagen, a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, offers a tranquil haven in the heart of Hellerup, just a 10-minute drive north of Copenhagen. The meticulously renovated Boutique Hotel ensures a serene experience for both business and leisure travelers. It features 67 rooms and suites, two apartments and a fitness center, and as well as on-site dining in three unique and culinary diverse restaurants and a wine bar. Opened in January 2025.

Rox Resort, Køge: A cinematic new destination redefining Nordic coastal luxury just 30 minutes south of Copenhagen. Developed by Swedish hospitality group ESS, the 154-room resort is a design-forward, chef-driven property that merges Danish restraint with the mood and materiality of early 20th-century travel in the old harbor town of Køge. Beach Hotel Marienlyst, Elsinore: Also operated by ESS Group and located at the edge of Denmark’s windswept coastline, this iconic and über-popular beach hotel and meeting venue has just unveiled a new exclusive pool terrace. Offering a Scandinavian reinterpretation of the beach club concept, the area is designed as an outdoor oasis with a 90 m² heated pool, 48 sun loungers, 35 lounge seats, and direct access to the hotel's existing 1,800 m² Pool Club and roof terrace. All this, in addition to its existing 322 distinct rooms, 3 restaurants and a wine bar, awesome spa facilities, and 27 unique meeting and conference rooms. Launched in May 2025.
