On one side, the blue sea and the white sands of Barra da Tijuca beach. On the other, the Marapendi Lagoon with its native vegetation. This unique setting is the address of the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro. With the concept of an urban resort, the luxury hotel follows the global standards of excellence of the Grand Hyatt brand and offers a complete structure to host corporate events and business meetings, as well as exclusive services for those seeking leisure and privacy in the "Marvelous City."
The Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro is located in one of the city's fastest-growing areas: Barra da Tijuca. The neighborhood features an 18 km stretch of beach, untouched lagoon reserves, and breathtaking natural beauty. It is also home to modern business complexes, numerous shopping centers, cinemas, theaters, concert venues, and a diverse selection of local and international restaurants.
The Project
The hotel's design combines the comfort and luxurious services of a five-star hotel with the informality of a beach resort. The concept was designed by the internationally renowned firm Yabu Pushelberg, with local support from Anastassiadis Arquitetos. The project features open spaces integrated with the natural environment, creating perfect synergy between the building and its surroundings. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by two Phoenix palm trees, and 17 green walls and suspended gardens complete the landscaping, celebrating the carioca lifestyle deeply connected to nature. Large balconies and glass windows allow natural light to flood the spaces while offering views of the exterior landscape.
The common area floor has a unique design inspired by straight lines and geometric patterns, paying homage to the iconic landscaper Roberto Burle Marx. The furniture includes pieces by renowned designers such as Sergio Rodrigues and Domingos Tórtora.
Accommodations
The Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro offers 436 rooms and suites, featuring a selection of woods, stones, soft-colored fabrics, and local art with a relaxed touch, a hallmark of the city. The amenities also provide a local experience, with products from the traditional carioca brand Granado. Highlights include the 1,776 sq ft Presidential Suite and the 3,315 sq ft Penthouse Suite with a private pool.
An important feature of the hotel is its pet-friendly policy. Through a special reservation, guests can bring small and medium-sized dogs (max 44 lbs), who can enjoy the "parcão," a space created especially for them.
For guests arriving before check-in or departing after checkout, the Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro offers the Marapendi Lounge, equipped with lockers, a living area with TV, work tables, and a changing room with a bathroom and shower.
The Grand Club Lounge is an exclusive area for guests staying in suites and executive rooms, offering special services. With spacious terraces and views of both the Marapendi Lagoon and the beach, the Lounge serves breakfast and evening cocktails. Other services include a dedicated concierge and a meeting room.
Gastronomy
The Grand Hyatt Rio de Janeiro features two restaurant options, offering unique experiences for guests and visitors. The culinary operations are led by Chef Raphael Hoelz, Assistant Director of Food and Beverage.
Cantô Gastrô & Lounge brings the relaxed, beachy vibe of Rio de Janeiro into the hotel. The decor includes large shelves and partitions made from materials like straw. The menu features Brazilian ingredients with creative twists on classic carioca cuisine.
Shiso, a restaurant celebrating authentic Japanese cuisine, is led by Chef Guilherme Campos. In addition to an extensive à la carte menu, the restaurant offers Omakase, a six-course tasting menu showcasing local seafood and ancient preservation techniques adapted for modern palates.
Spa, Wellness, and Recreation
The Atiaia Spa is designed to balance relaxation and beauty. It features nine private treatment rooms—six individual suites and three doubles—and a selection of treatments for body and mind. The signature Atiaia Massage combines Swedish techniques, lymphatic drainage, acupressure, aromatherapy, and a blend of essential oils.
