Japan continues to draw attention as a destination for business events in 2025. In 2024, the total number of inbound visitors to Japan reached a record high of 36,869,900, marking a 47.1% increase from the previous year and a 15.6% rise compared to 2019. The number is expected to continue growing in the future.
Several Japanese cities have recently been announced as host cities for upcoming conferences, reaffirming the attractiveness and value of Japanese cities to associations. For example, Tokyo will welcome the World Physiotherapy Congress 2025, with an expected attendance of over 5,000 delegates including 3,000 from outside of Japan. Additionally, Fukuoka will welcome the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGOS2026), with an expected attendance of 4,000 participants, and Yokohama will host the Global Spine congress 2027 (GSC2027), with an expected attendee of 3,000 participants. Japan offers a range of venues for conferences of various sizes. In more great news, the number of inquiries and incentive trips to Japan, both short and long-haul, are increasing as well. JNTO is continuing to strengthen its promotion and support activities for attracting meetings and events. For those of you who have been planning business events in Japan over the past few years, we thank you for your continued trust and we look forward to welcoming your MICE participants to our country once again!
