A NEW GEM ON THE ADRIATIC: Hilton Hotel Preko to Open on the Island of Ugljan in May 2025

Hilton continues its expansion in the Croatian market with the upcoming opening of Hotel Preko on the island of Ugljan, which will operate under the Curio Collection by Hilton brand.

Hotel Preko Ugljan Island, Curio Collection by Hilton will be the first Hilton hotel located on a Croatian island, with the grand opening planned for May 2025. Situated on a prime 3,600-square-meter plot in the very heart of the town of Preko, this modern hotel is being developed on the site of a former building from the 1970s. The project is partially co-financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), with a total investment of €15 million. The hotel is currently in the final phase of furnishing and finishing.

“The initial interior design and spatial concept were developed in collaboration with experienced designers, while the architectural solution is signed by architect Ivan Čerkez.” The design blends natural materials such as stone and glass with Mediterranean greenery, creating a harmonious integration with the surroundings and the local identity.

“We are especially proud to be among the first on the Croatian islands to operate year-round. By creating jobs on the island of Ugljan, we have not only helped young people remain on the island, but also attracted many who have long dreamed of returning and living here with their families. Most of our current employees are either from Ugljan or Pašman or have strong ties to the islands, and many have decided to relocate specifically for this job,” said Jutt Ferlan.

“Together with the local community, we aim to launch this picturesque town into the international spotlight through Hilton’s marketing channels, appealing to travelers seeking a relaxing climate, peaceful surroundings, and a wealth of thoughtful details in service that fulfill many of the needs identified in our research,” Ferlan emphasized.

Through specially tailored programs for corporate clients, we want to show that the beauty of island stays and exceptional experiences are possible even outside the summer season,” she added.

The hotel will be managed by Zagreb City Hotels d.o.o., the company that successfully operates three Hilton hotels in Zagreb (Canopy by Hilton, DoubleTree by Hilton, Hilton Garden Inn) as well as the Keight Hotel Opatija, Curio Collection by Hilton.
