Dr. Philip Sebastian Chitaunga is a leading Tanzanian tourism and business events professional, currently serving as Director of Business Services at the Arusha International Conference Centre (AICC). With over 20 years of experience, he plays a pivotal role in positioning Tanzania as a competitive destination for international conferences, meetings, and events.
He has held senior leadership roles within the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism and the Tanzania Tourist Board, contributing to national tourism policy, destination marketing, and sector growth. His expertise spans business events development, destination branding, and sustainable tourism.
Dr. Chitaunga holds a PhD in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management from the University of Georgia and combines research, policy insight, and practical leadership to advance Tanzania’s global tourism and meetings industry.
