Beyond gastronomy and heritage, Timiș County is developing an ever-expanding network of ecotourism experiences:
Pietroasa, Bogdaand the Bega Valley
Offer untouched natural landscapes, trails, and an authentic traditional rural life.
Discover Timiș by Bike
Visit Timiș has developed several cycling routes that allow tourists and locals to discover new places and adopt a more sustainable way of traveling. We created the county's first cycling tourism map in collaboration with three local cycling associations. Moreover, the Timișoara–Zrenjanin (Otelec) bike path facilitates eco-friendly cross-border tourism, connecting multicultural villages and natural heritage.
Surduc Lake
Located in the commune of Fârdea, Surduc Lake primarily provides drinking water to the Timișoara area and serves as flood protection, but it is also a tourist destination ideal for fishing, recreation, and water sports. Tourists can enjoy free catamaran rides, hiking, and biking around the lake.
Agrotourism and nature tourism initiatives
In areas such as Luncani, Fârdea, and Margina promote biodiversity, ecological education, and responsible travel. These landscapes invite visitors to discover the natural rhythm of Banat through hiking, cycling, and local hospitality.
