The Federation of the Romanian Hotel Industry (FIHR) is the first  association established in Romanian tourism, in April 1990, and  represents an employers' organization that aims to represent the  interests of hoteliers in Romania.
Throughout its over 30 years of  activity, FIHR has been a constant supporter of the industry, playing an  active role in the dialogue with central and local public authorities,  being a member of the Tourism Advisory Council, the Tourism Alliance and  the Concordia Confederation.The Romanian Hotel Industry Federation  (FIHR) is representative in terms of the cumulative turnover of its  members, bringing together 4 of the top 5 hotel companies in Romania,  being present at national level in over 48 localities in 28 counties and  cumulating over 18,300 rooms in member hotel properties.
At the same  time, FIHR includes 4 hotel employers' organizations (Patronatul Marea  Mamaia - Constanța, OPH Poiana Brașov, Horeca Cluj and OPH Brașov), in  addition to the 240 hotel members, which include both hotels with  international brands, Romanian hotel groups, as well as independent  hotels and guesthouses.

Im Jahr 2024 wurden mit rund 5.000 Beiträgen über Social Media und  unsere Online-Präsenzen über 100.000.0000 (100 Millionen, davon ca. 2,5  Millionen Unique Users, Hochrechnung gem. aktuellen Zahlen) Personen  erreicht. The natural beauties of our county are complemented by the traditional Moldavian gastronomy cuisine, and, among the delicacies made according to local specific recipes, we can count dishes such as smoked trout wrapped in fir tree bark, “zacusca“ (vegetable stew), pâté, trout sausages and “sarmale” (minced meat wrapped in cabbage or vine leaves), or jelly with chicken or pork, Oituz cheese, Palanca cheese, cheese "hidden" in pine bark, walnut brioche ("cozonac"), "alivenci" (cream cheese custard pies), as well as the traditional "poale-n brâu" pies. The Association for the Promotion and Development of Tourism in Timiș County (Visit Timiș) is a public utility association whose main goal is to identify sustainable opportunities that have the potential to: increase local incomes, diversify tourism services, and enhance the region's tourism potential. To achieve our objectives, we collaborate with administrative units, tourist information centers, local producers and craftsmen, as well as local, national, and international partners. These initiatives demonstrate how food, tradition, and tourism shape a regional identity rooted in authenticity and open to innovation.

Gastronomic and Wine Tourism

• Breakfast in Margina – Awarded 3rd place in Europe in the category of sustainable cultural tourism destinations, "Breakfast in Margina" is a tourism product designed to offer an authentic rural experience and support the development of a strong community of local producers and gastronomic points.
• Banat Brunch – Cultural gastronomic events based on traditional dishes prepared and served by locals in their own homes, using seasonal and region-specific products. These rural events also include a local market with producers and artisans (within a 50 km radius) and a village tour, aimed at promoting sustainability.
• Timiș Wine Route – A local project developed in the Silagiu–Buziaș area, connecting small wine producers and promoting wine tourism through tastings, vineyard visits, and seasonal events.
    The western part of Romania is a traditional wine-producing area with viticulture dating back to the first millennium. Timiș County is part of one of Banat's five wine centers and is home to eight wineries where visitors can taste authentic wines: five in the Silagiu (Buziaș) area and three in the Recaș area.

Ecotourism and Nature Tourism

Beyond gastronomy and heritage, Timiș County is developing an ever-expanding network of ecotourism experiences:

• Pietroasa, Bogda, and the Bega Valley offer untouched natural landscapes, trails, and an authentic traditional rural life.
• Discover Timiș by Bike – Visit Timiș has developed several cycling routes that allow tourists and locals to discover new places and adopt a more sustainable way of traveling. We created the county's first cycling tourism map in collaboration with three local cycling associations. Moreover, the Timișoara–Zrenjanin (Otelec) bike path facilitates eco-friendly cross-border tourism, connecting multicultural villages and natural heritage.
• Surduc Lake – Located in the commune of Fârdea, Surduc Lake primarily provides drinking water to the Timișoara area and serves as flood protection, but it is also a tourist destination ideal for fishing, recreation, and water sports. Tourists can enjoy free catamaran rides, hiking, and biking around the lake.
• Agrotourism and nature tourism initiatives in areas such as Luncani, Fârdea, and Margina promote biodiversity, ecological education, and responsible travel.
    These landscapes invite visitors to discover the natural rhythm of Banat through hiking, cycling, and local hospitality.

Historical and Heritage Tourism

Timiș preserves a valuable religious and aristocratic heritage, with vivid traces of its historical past:

• Wooden churches – More than 26 wooden churches scattered throughout rural areas are unique architectural gems, some dating back to the 18th century.
• Noble manors – The 30 manor houses and castles identified in Timiș County reflect the layered history of Banat, influenced by the Austro-Hungarian nobility and its ethnic and cultural diversity.
• The county is home to Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant churches, testifying to centuries of harmonious coexistence.
    These elements support the development of ecumenical and heritage tourism, appealing to those seeking spirituality, history, and authentic architecture.

TIMIȘ FOR ONE DAY

To offer you a comprehensive experience in a single day, we have designed an itinerary that touches each of the main pillars of tourism in the county: gastronomy, nature, ecotourism, cultural heritage, and creativity, through carefully selected representative locations.

• MOCIONI MANOR – Foeni
  History, heritage, and culture – brought together in a reborn space!
    Built in 1750, the Mocioni Manor in Foeni is one of the oldest noble residences in Timiș County and one of the most valuable historical monuments in Banat. Once home to the influential Mocioni family, this neoclassical building bears the mark of architect Mór Kallina and reflects the elegance of an era where culture and tradition were part of the community's identity.
    Today, after extensive restoration by the Timiș County Council (project promoter), in partnership with North Consulting ehf Iceland and the Miltonia Association, the manor is open to the public as a vibrant venue for cultural events, exhibitions, conferences, and educational activities, reinforcing its role as a center for promoting regional heritage.

• LUN Design (Iohanesfeld, Otelec) – Sustainability and Rural Creativity
    In the village of Iohanesfeld, Otelec commune, the LUN Design project reimagines rural life through sustainability and design. This family project blends traditional crafts with contemporary design, organizing workshops, artist residencies, and authentic experiences. Otelec is the ideal place for ecotourism, nature retreats, and slow travel, where guests rediscover the natural rhythm of life and connect with authentic rural surroundings.

• Agape Winery (Silagiu, Buziaș) – A heartfelt project returning to its roots
    Nestled in the hills of Silagiu, Agape Winery – Art & Nature is more than just a winery – it's a story of return, passion, and biodynamic winemaking. Its founder, a professional oenologist, lived in Italy for 17 years, where he studied and practiced biodynamic winemaking. Upon returning to his native Banat, he created Agape as both a personal and professional project that merges Italian expertise with the Western Romanian terroir. Visitors are invited to taste artisanal wines and connect with a philosophy centered on sustainability, emotion, and respect for nature.

• Curtea Culorilor (Sârbova) – Artisanal Cheese, Community, and an Italian Heart in Banat
    In the village of Sârbova, Curtea Culorilor is an artisanal cheese-making association led by Adriana Formenti, an Italian who settled in Romania and brought her vision of rural regeneration to the heart of Banat. Here, natural cheeses are made using traditional methods, with a focus on quality, ecology, and community involvement. It’s a welcoming and colorful place where food, art, and education come together under one roof, offering visitors a Banat perspective with an Italian soul.
